This procedure involves the doctor placing a surgical level titanium implant into the jaw bone, where your tooth's natural root would exist. After this implant has had time to heal and integrate with the bone, an "abutment" is mounted to the implant, forming a transition between the implant and the new crown. The third step is to mount a crown to the abutment.

The results are amazing, providing a tooth that looks real and functions as well or better than natural teeth. The benefits are many: implants actually save bone material and encourage its growth (which will ultimately improve facial aesthetics by preserving the contour of your profile) and they can inhibit the aging process in the area around the implant.
